Sv: Diagnosen lavt stoffskifte i januar 2010
Thanks so much for emailing and sharing your story, I totally relate! I am so glad you found my site, and to hear that it's been helpful for you. I absolutely understand how frustrating it is to struggle with this condition, my heart goes out to you. There definitely is hope! Absolutely, my life has improved 300%.
I live a normal life now and do things I could never do, like exercise for hours and still have energy for more. And exercise every day of the week. Before treatment I could barely exercise at all, and definitely not every day. Sometimes even walking up stairs was too tiring. Now I can run 3-4 miles and not be sore the next day. When I say it feels like a miracle, it truly does. Some days I have less energy, but what I would now consider "normal" for most people. It does take people time to get the medicine dosages optimized for their bodies. Imagine its like turning a big ship, it can be done but it takes time and effort.
As for work, yes I definitely can work, and find it much easier than every. Things that would have been impossible before I find effortless now. I hear from so many women who struggle to get through the day, and many can't work. It's tragic that we can live like this. But we are here to help each other! The hypoglycemia got better for me on the thyroid and adrenal meds, but I have to eat every two hours like you. A handful of nuts works beautifully. And not eating carbs keeps my blood sugar more even.
It's fantastic you are getting treatment, both for adrenals and thyroid! You made excellent choices! I hear Erfa is great. And Cortef, definitely, 20mg is about what I take. I've been taking Cortef for over 2 years and it continues to help me. My doctor said I may be on it my entire life, so I am not in any rush to stop as long I see benefits. How much Erfa are you taking? Are you starting to feel better? If you aren't feeling better, your dose might be too low. I see this often with people. I felt an immediate improvement when I did these two things with my thyroid meds (which others highly recommend):
1. Take the thyroid pills sublingually (meaning let it dissolve under your tongue). The medicine gets directly into the blood stream this way. And it means you can eat immediately before or after taking the medicine. (Commonly people swallow the pill, then eat and the food interacts with the medicine, making it totally ineffective.)
2. Take pills three times a day to keep even medicine in the body. For example, I take 2.5 pills day. The first one in the morning when I wake up, the second around lunch, and the half pill around dinner time.
I hope that helps and definitely let me know what your thyroid dose is. Have hope, you are so close to solving this!
xxoo
