Belle. Hvis du ikke allerede er ved at udvikle en spiseforstyrrelse - er du på kanten dertil! Problemet med det bliver for dig, at din skjodbruskkirtel atrofierer (skrumper) af den ringe lavkalorie-kost (...) Atrofi af thyreoidea er en meget normal effekt af f.eks. anorexi eller andre former for lavkalorie-kost-regime. Det er irreversibelt.

Cat71 har spurgt efter kilder. Jeg har mange, men her er et par kildehenvisninger jeg har liggende ved hånden:

"Research investigating the morphology of the thyroid of patients suffering from anorexia nervosa is presented. Particular attention is given to ultrasonographic evaluations of the thyroid gland. It is conclude that there are gland reduction in anorexic patients." Evidence of diffuse atrophy of the thyroid gland in patients with anorexia nervosa

"Blunted or decreased responses to exogenous TSH are common in anorexia, and there was evidence of significant decreases in thyroid volume in a population of 22 anorexics. Problemet med starvation-effect on endokrine glands er ikke begrænset til skjoldbruskkirtlen. Også andre hormonkirtler + hjernen er ligeledes udsatte for atrofi som følge af... kronisk (permanent/vedværende) sult. Og når de spiseforstyrrede sender mig en PM for at høre hvor mange kalorier en "aminosyre-kapsel" omsættes til - da står jeg fuldstændig af og opgiver...
