Opdateringen af De Kliniske Retningslinjer For Diagnose Og Behandling Af Hypothyreose vil blive offentliggjort i November-December 2012 nummer af Endocrine Practice, et tidsskrift udgivet af AACE (American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists). Det er altså en nyhed, der endnu ikke er officielt offentliggjort.

Men hvorfor skulle det være vigtigt for os at kende til?

Det er SUPERvigtigt for os at kende til, fordi American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists bestemmer absolut over British Thyroid Association (BTA) og The British Thyroid Foundation (BTF), og disse to britiske organisationer samarbejder direkte med f.eks. NTF og ellers bestemmer disse organisationer 100% over alle vilkår for skolemedicinens diagnose og behandling af hypothyreose gældende for hele Skandinavien, med delvis undtagelse af Finland! Det betyder, at det som AACE/ATA bestemmer i USA - giver vores skandinaviske skolemedicinske lægestande en fortsat bestyrket undskyldning til at behandle os - skandinaviske hypothyreose-patienter - som lort! Det kan give dig svaret på, hvorfor du har det ad helvede til og alligevel nøjes din læge med at afvise dig som om du var hypokonder, eller værre!

Five Ways the New ATA Hypothyroidism Guidelines are Bad for Thyroid Patients

In a recent blog post, we focused on research showing that clinical guidelines are influenced by drug companies to the detriment of patients. In The Best Clinical Guidelines Money Can Buy: A Look at Guidelines Bias and Thyroid Treatment, we talked about a British Medical Journal article from 2013 that pointed out the vast majority of guidelines authors have financial ties to the drug companies whose products they are recommending. Also, even when doctors do not agree with the “standards of care” presented in guidelines, they are likely to follow them, out of fear of being charged with malpractice.

Now, we have evidence of this unfortunate process in action, with the recent publication of the American Thyroid Association (ATA) “Guidelines for the Treatment of Hypothyroidism” in the journal Thyroid. (PDF format).

There are so many things wrong with these Guidelines that we could write volumes, but let’s cut to the chase.
