Sv: What's wrong with Erfa Thyroid
Sitat:
Dear Janie
My use of English language could be better. Sorry.
Something is wrong with the Thyroid from Erfa Canada we are receiving from a pharmacies in Europe. I've even started on Erfa-thyroid my self, after taking Westhroid over many years. Only a few days after I was back at the starting point from before Westhroid - weak and half dead cognitively. Fortunately, I had still a box of old Westhroid in my drawer, and after just 3 days I was my old "self"again. Alive again!
I run a big forum for the sick of hypothyroidism and over many years I have been reading here and on foreign forums countless stories about people who have switched over to Armour or other older brands of Thyroid USP. When I look back and forward to this day when Erfa-Thyroid now replacing the old brands - hits me right between my eyes that there is a big difference to note in disadvantage to Erfa-Thyroid: in comparison to before - it is now much more difficult for sufferers to get proper into thyroid treatment than it was before with the old Thyroid USP brands.
Sometimes things go fine, but most often it is so much uphill, than I doubt that it is only a coincidence.
Please note that if You hear from people who have difficulties in getting proper into the treatment with Erfa-Thyroid - it might not necessarily be their adrenals are crashing, but that might be a reaction to Erfa-Thyroid or lack of effect.
Feedback from many people who switched to Erfa-Thyroid describes some symptoms such they had when they were treated with Levothyroxine or failed combo-therapy with Liothyronin.
In any case - something is wrong and I would like to inform you about it.
Sincerely,
Dear Mrs Sonjas,
Thank you for contacting Erfa Canada Inc. This is an important and interesting email and I think it is important to notice that indeed many physicians and patients have reported different benefits while taking Thyroid®.
We have had some reports of important clinical variations while switching from other desiccated thyroid product to our Thyroid®. The problem is that we do not have any data’s on the other brands since they are not registered product in their respective country.
We do not have any data’s on the variation of T3 or T4 of these products and were unable to obtain it. We know however that our desiccated thyroid product has a maximum of 5-7% variation of T4 at the most (between batches to batches). These data’s are provided to Health Canada regularly.
After reviewing the case and speaking to international specialists it seems that the best way to switch from one brand to another is the following:
- If your brand name is readily available and does not cause you any side effects there is no reason to switch to our product.
- If your brand name of desiccated thyroid is unavailable (or in back order) and you need to switch to our desiccated thyroid, we suggest to take the same dosage then your previous brand.
- If after 3 weeks you have a good response, you should continue with the same dosage.
- If after 3 weeks you have additional symptoms, you will need to be reassess by your physician that will require a blood test to check your thyroid levels.
We have over 12 000 patients across Canada and all our side effects are reported to the Canadian Health authorities. We have had reports from patients and physician attesting that our product is too strong or sometime even too weak. This is probably due to the differences between the products (extra medicinal ingredients, variation of T4, etc..) and the best way to deal with that is to let your physician decide on a proper treatment.
Thyroid® is a safe medication that is not well tolerated by everyone. Any patient or physician experiencing side effects can report them to us directly and we will be happy to give them adequate advices.
Sincerely,
Henri Knafo, MD, MSc, BSc

Vel.....
Hyggelig svar, og fremforalt meget oppriktig.
Men, jeg savner jo spesifics her da......Henri.
